If you're ever in DTLA, come here and get some tacos. They are so good, very fresh ingredients and the meats are delicious and very flavorful. Would be some really good drunk food after the club lol

Definitely worth a try if you are in the area! These tacos are hefty! I get full from eating 2, and if I eat 3, I'm stuffed. They pack a lot of meat inside. I also enjoy the mulitas and quesadillas because there's cheese, and cheese makes everything delicious. The al pastor is my favorite but the carne asada is good too. There's a nice char on the meat and it's flavorful. The only disappointing thing is that their sauces aren't super good. Not very spicy at all. They're just mediocre sauces... Service is not super quick. It probably takes like 10 minutes to get your tacos, even if there aren't that many people there. There is a nice sit in area with a few tables and high tops if you want to eat there.

Ducked in to the DTLA branch of Tacos 1986 for an asada taco and a pollo quesadilla. As a native Angeleno, I've eaten great Mexican food, especially tacos, for years now and tend to like various trucks more than small but authentic restaurant outlets. Taco 1986, however, is excellent and I especially enjoyed how they do their quesadillas-- open faced, really more like their small tacos, but with melted cheese too. Nice bites and their darkest sauce, their version of a garlic chili oil, skews smokier over spiciness and is just delicious. The asada taco was fine too, maybe a bit light in the chosen asada beef protein I ordered, but good. For my money, the quesadilla is the star here. Worth seeking out the closest of this flourishing chain near you.

Had some good food at the DTLA of this small local chain. It has a few others around the city but this one is close to quite a few things and is a convenient option. Tacos 1986 is a small place inside with the counter to order at and some seats along the window. Maybe not a whole lot on the menu but there's tons of good choices to get. You can get meaty items and vegetarian friendly items including not just tacos but burritos and quesadillas. A lot of it's authentic. It's more authentic than Taco Bell to be sure. The place is pretty small inside, but we were able to get seats by the window. It's about $3 for the beverages such as the Jamaica. This is the fruit flavored water. People come for the tacos of course. There's a few of these to choose from. It's $10 for the 3 Tacos Combo. We got the Hongo Tacos. A good plant based choice. These are filled with marinated mushrooms, and topped with guacamole and salsa. Get a lot without paying a lot. It's got the combos where you can get a few tacos. There's the meaty ones as well as ones for vegetarians.

First thing I liked was that I was greeted in a very warm way. The inside was really clean and quaint. The food actually looked like the menu did and it was very tasty. I will return.

Delicious tacos! First time I had Tacos 1986 was at Smorgasbord pre-pandemic. I was introduced to the vampiro taco then, and it was delicious. Yesterday, I was introduced to the Perron Taco, which is not on the menu, but you can ask for it, kinda like getting an animals-style from In n Out, is how Sally from Six Taste Food Tour explained. Let me tell you, it was fabulous. Flour tortilla, with cheese grilled to it, topped with carne asada, guacamole, beans, salsa. Muy delicioso. Paired it with an horchata.
